Care Instructions
Svensson decorative textiles are designed and manufactured to the highest quality – correct care allows them to retain their function and appearance over the long term.
Care instructions for each fabric can be found under the item's product information, and here we tell you about different materials general characteristics and requirements.
Upholstery fabric
Wool (and wool mixtures with PA/PES/Rami)Wool is a protein fibre with many inherent natural properties - it is dirt and water repellent, antistatic and flame resistant.
Woollen upholstery fabric should be lightly vacuumed each week and cleaned more thoroughly at least once a year to maintain both its function and appearance. Woollen upholstery fabric can be dry cleaned.

Polyester and Trevira CS
Polyester is a synthetic fibre that is strong, has little shrinkage, little stretch and makes for a curtain fabric that does not crease easily.
Trevira is a trademark for polyester fibre with flame retardant properties built into the fibre. These flame retardants are halogen-free and are bound in the fibre. The retardants do not leach out of the fabric during use or during washing.
Polyester fabrics are easy to wash. Our curtains can be dry cleaned or washed at 60°C, with gentle spinning. Wash them separately and be careful not to overload the washing machine. Hang dry and iron on medium heat or steam before hanging them.
Hanging textiles
Organic cotton and linen
Cotton and linen are plant fibres, both of which carry a natural variation in colour and texture, and both are antistatic. A curtain fabric of cotton and linen is susceptible to breaks in its folds and can crease easily. Therefore it must be handled with care.
Svensson hanging fabrics can be washed gently at 40 degrees. Wash them separately and be careful not to overload the washing machine. Hang dry and iron on medium heat or steam before hanging them.

Solar control

These flame retardants are halogen-free and are bound in the fibre. The retardants do not leach out of the fabric during use or during washing.
Aluminum is a metal with reflective properties. Our fabrics contain less than 1% aluminum in a structure that protects the reflecting surface against external influences.
A stiff sunshade of polyester, Trevira CS and mixtures containing aluminum can be wiped with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Stiff fabrics are sensitive to breakage of its creases and must therefore be handled with care.
All fabrics that are washable have a shrinkage of 2% unless otherwise stated – remember this when engaging in sewing.
